Dear Friends,
amplifyme is proud to announce that our Youth Media Institute has been chosen for recognition as a 2011 National
Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award (NAHYP) Finalist by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities
and its partner agencies: the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the National Endowment for the Arts and the
National Endowment for the Humanities.
The National Arts and Humanities Youth Program awards to outstanding after-school and out-of-school programs that
are transforming the lives of young people. Programs that receive the award exemplify how arts and humanities
programs outside of the regular school day enrich the lives of young people throughout the country by teaching new
skills, nurturing creativity, and building self-confidence.
Of 471 nominations from 48 states amplifyme was selected as one of 50 finalists distinguishing it as one of the top
arts and humanities based programs in the country. If amplifyme is selected to win this award it will receive an
invitation to attend the White House awards ceremony hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama. amplifyme will also have
the opportunity to participate in the seventh annual NAHYP Awardee Conference, August 3-5th, 2011, in Washington,
DC. For more information about National Arts and Humanities Youth Program visit their website at NAHYP.
It's your support that builds amplifyme's capacity to receive awards such as this one. We have a goal of raising
$8,000 more for our summer Youth Media Institute and $10,000 for our groundbreaking film that will explore how
meaningfully connected we feel to each other and to community given our connectedness. Will you make a tax
deductible donation today? Your support will go a long way in helping the youth and filmmakers of amplifyme reach
our goals!
Thank you for celebrating this special achievement with us, and for the role that you play in making it possible!
